Austin TX & Toronto ON
MALONE WHEELER
THE GIG
Brand ID gig for an Austin Civil Engineering firm, currently in progress. Includes Logo, Website, Style Guide and assorted print collateral.
THE DEAL
Project in progress…
DUCKWORTH PROPERTIES
THE GIG
Brand Identity, Print Collateral, Custom Steel Site Signage, Promotional Website
THE DEAL
Clay Duckworth and his ridiculously hard-working crew are the best custom home builders in Austin, TX. This was ground-up brand redesign. Clay was looking to convey solidity and masculinity - and a bit of Texas. Done deal. Clay also had a hard time getting his content together, so I took that project off his hands as well and collected and edited content, did all the copy writing for the new site and arranged photo shoots of a dozen of his recent high-end job sites to get his portfolio jump started.
OBJECTWISE
THE GIG
New Brand ID and responsive website for this busy Canadian tech placement agency.
THE DEAL
The clients only requirements where that it be blue and strong and not too cold. I promptly delivered double blue, friendly and punchy. Bam!
STELLAR LED
THE GIG
Brand ID, Essential Print Collateral
THE DEAL
Stellar distributes LED lighting to clients all over the US. The client wanted something that was fun, friendly and slick. This lively logo harkens back to the neon signs of the Rat Pack days in Las Vegas, but with a clear eye forward.
GENEROUS ART
THE GIG
E-commerce Website, Custom E-commerce CMS, Custom Event management tools
THE DEAL
Designed and built this unique E-commerce site that allows buyers to purchase art online while donating a percentage of the profits to a local non-profit of their choice. This client runs events almost weekly and uses the back-end tools on this site to run them and promote them on the site. Banners pull product imagery and create the thumbnails for the banners on the fly. The entire site was designed on what is essentially a tight six-column grid.
REEL CANADA
THE GIG
Website design, online film festival management and ticketing system.
THE DEAL
Reel Canada is a traveling film festival promoting Canadian film to highschool students. The website was designed to promote the films , (using a cleaned-up IMDB-style interface of film pages proper) and actually help RUN the festival itself. The back-end for this site has a custom made ticketing system that allows the client to create festivals, manage the student lists and venues and create ticket print runs directly from the site. It works like a charm.
INTERIOR DESIGN & LANDSCAPING (Manning House)
I love small but comfortable modern spaces. The shoot for Canadian House and Home feature article highlights some of the indoor and outdoor custom built-in furniture I designed and built and some of my landscape design as well.
The final pic in this series shows a young man sitting in my yard. He is a Toronto photographer who purchased the house directly from me. He was recovering from cancer and bought the house because of the garden I had designed, planted and grown there. He loved the house and insisted that I had to sell the house with all the built-ins and every last design element from paint to window treatments intact. I was flattered, and of course, I agreed.
ASTERRA
THE GIG
Promotional business website for the Austin Property Management firm.
THE DEAL
Lean, mean, responsive-first design.
SQUARESPACE & SHOPIFY CUSTOMIZATIONS
SQUARESPACE
I often get customers who come to me with a very tight budget, and sometimes very little time to get their web site online. So I’ll work with them to design, populate and launch low cost , clean and simple customized SquareSpace websites, in relatively short order.
SHOPIFY
I’ve designed dozens of custom large-scale e-commerce websites over the years, but sometimes a client comes to you and they need an e-commerce site for a small project and they simply do not have the budget for a full custom site. Customizing Shopify e-commerce sites can be just the ticket for those plucky entrepreneurs, and it is also a very speedy solution.
LEFT JAB CREATIVE (2012)
Our new responsive site for 2012. This newer version of the site was meant to move away from the boxing motif and intended to look a bit more tech-friendly.
LEFT JAB CREATIVE (2011)
Corporate ID, Print Collateral and Website for our New US Corp.
THE DEAL
The challenge was to create a corp ID that referenced classic early boxing posters. As an additional challenge, we wanted to see if we could do it on one screen, using ONLY Google Webfonts, which were just newly available at the time.
INTERIOR DESIGN & RENOVATIONS
REDONDO HOUSE
This project was a complete gut job and redesign/build on a 60’s modern ranch house in East Austin. I designed the kitchen and bathroom and removed two large sections of wall, replacing them with new hidden, supporting cross beams to open up the house. I also sourced out a really unique and cost-effective epoxy resin flooring solution to deal with very rough and uneven concrete floors -and it is smooth and hard as steel!

Willow House Bathroom Reno
This was a small empty storage room with open stud walls at the back of a hundred year old house in East Austin. The focus was on making the comparatively small space seem large and bright and clean.

PORTRAITS
This is a small selection of shots from some of the medium format film portraits I’ve made over the years. Some of these images were featured in a solo show at The Cameron House in Toronto entitled ‘Dark Haired Beauties’. Many of these were published in larger main stream periodicals in Canada.
